Prince Harry the campaigner! On Tuesday, Jan. 28, the Duke of Sussex, 40, appeared in a surprise video encouraging people to send in nominations for the 2025 WellChild Awards.

The annual award show celebrates the courage and achievements of seriously ill children across the U.K. and involves one of the few patronages Harry kept after stepping back from royal work alongside wife Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex in 2020.

The deeply emotional awards are a highlight for Prince Harry, as he seems most at ease when in service of others and especially children. Even behind the scenes, Harry stays connected to the families with regular video calls and check-ins, a very touching feature of his patronage that transcends his official duty to the organization.

In the video, Harry, looking relaxed and every inch of California cool, stated, “Each year, the WellChild Awards, in association with GSK, recognize and celebrate the growing number of young people with complex medical conditions from across the United Kingdom as well as those who go the extra mile to care for them.”

“They allow us to shine a spotlight on the remarkable stories of strength, resilience and courage that they demonstrate every single day,” he added.

“This year is especially significant as we celebrate the 20th WellChild Awards,” he continued. “It is a true privilege to honor the bravery and compassion of this incredible community.”

Harry, who's been WellChild's patron since 2007, went on to say that in order for the awards to take place “we need your help to nominate the exceptional people who inspire you every single day.”

"Your support can make all the difference. So, please join us in recognizing the amazing individuals who will be recognized at the 2025 WellChild Awards," the Duke of Sussex said through his trademark naughty grin as the video closed.

Nominations for the next awards are now open on WellChild's website.

Last year, Harry received a gift from an award recipient at the 2024 WellChild Awards.

The ceremony, which took place in London on Sept. 30, saw 10-year-old Scarlett gift the prince with crystal hearts for him, his Meghan, 43, and their children Prince Archie, 5, and Princess Lilibet, 3.

Her mother Aby stated, “If he [Harry] feels down he can give a crystal heart to each of his family members to squeeze and make them feel a lot happier.”

Scarlett, who had been awarded in the 7 to 11 age group, had undergone two major brain surgeries due to facing medical challenges that affected her mobility and caused severe pain.

Despite spending many months in the hospital, Scarlett “saves her own bravery stickers for other children in hospital, reads to them and, along with her sister Sienna, saves up her pocket money to buy new toys for hospital wards,” according to a WellChild release at the time.

Speaking on fatherhood helping him connect more with Wellchild in 2021, Harry stated, “Now as a father of two, I feel all the more connected, inspired and in awe of the resilience of these families, who power through indescribable challenges with the support of WellChild."

What a man.
